It has been long since the first gaming console was introduced and through the years, several gaming consoles had been designed to cater the gamer’s interests. Sadly, due to some unforeseen events, the global launch was delayed until March that is why Sony advised their clients about the refund eligibility for prepaid orders. Though, it does not change the fact that proceeding with pre-orders is still being honored. Though this is not a good start for Sony’s newest product, Sony was still confident about the console’s capability to gain the favor of clients.
In addition to these mishaps, PS3 soon later received unfavorable feedbacks such as lack of interesting games and having a high price tag. This resulted in an unfavorable marketing position against its console counterparts namely the XBOX and the Wii wherein, both systems have a more economical price, complimented by various games with quality.
Furthermore, some even mentioned that it was incompatible and that developers had difficulty programming it. Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick even mentioned that Nintendo’s XBOX and Wii are doing better when it comes to their sales rate. However, despite all these negative feedbacks from around the globe, there are still some who believe in the capability of the PS3 and what it CAN do rather than what has happened in the past. It does not change the fact that PS3’s exceptional feature is something to look forward to and they just have to give them enough time to have it fully developed. On the other hand, Sony also developed another version of PS3 to support the downtrodding sales trend of their first product. The new product is called the PS3 slim which has received more favorable reviews compared to it’s predecessor, the same with an increase in sales in less than a day after it was first released. It’s been a long time coming, but Apple have finally unveiled their long anticipated tablet computer. The name is confirmed as the iPad and it has received, quite predictably perhaps, a bit of a mixed reception. There are those who maintain that it’s nothing more than a bigger version of Apple’s iPod Touch, whilst others are already predicting that it will sound the death knell for netbooks, notebooks and e-book readers.
For a long time now, since before we even knew what it was going to be called, the iPad has been given the title of the “Kindle Killer”. In one way that is just a little odd. After all, the two devices are very different and you might think that they were targeting different market segments. On the other hand, when the iPad starts shipping in March, the Kindle and the iPad will be the two hottest gadgets available. The fact that both Amazon and Apple are very successful corporate giants – both with impressive track records for changing the rules of the game in their market sectors – only feeds the flames.
Simply put, the Kindle is a very specialized piece of kit. It concentrates on doing one job extremely well – reading e-books. In addition to being a great e-book reader it also makes the sales process for books fast, simple and efficient. Good for both the customer and Amazon. The iPad is a jack of all trades. It performs a number of different functions and is very versatile. It’s color display makes it a good browser, you can play games on it, listen to music on it and use the huge Apple “Apps” library. The iPad’s great color display makes it ideal for use as a web browser, watching video or playing games. On the other hand, the back-lit screen produces more eye strain than the Kindle display and it has a relatively short battery life of only ten hours.
Simply put, the Kindle is a very much better e-book reader than the iPad – but even after its next upgrade (rumoured to be soon) it’s not likely to be suitable for anything more than basic surfing. The iPad is a versatile multi-function device. Putting aside the e-book reader aspects of the analysis, it’s quite likely that some of its other functions may be performed better by other specialist devices. Which device you decide to go for will probably be determined by whether or not you’re prepared to sacrifice a little performance for all round versatility.

The nature of film is to enchant. Is it a keen and desperate tool to beguile and communicate. Of course, that is a problematic pairing. While communicating, it has the propensity to beguile. We seem most receptive to the messages if we are made to watch, rather than read. In essence, then, it shapes opinions and discourages free thought. To be sure, this is a subtle manipulation — something akin to a kind of shadow play.
We think nothing of framing conversations in terms of a movie. Moreover, we draw heavily on a shared cinematic subtext, enabling the closest of chums to pepper ad hoc portions of film dialogue throughout their conversation, regardless of topic. This line of thinking is nothing new, of course. The subtle effects of cinematic language are so endemic we hardly notice them anymore. There is a strong case for the emergence of a kind of non-sequitor vernacular, where anything can be said and everything understood.
Why settle for the florescent-lit, pock-marked “real” world when you can interact with a professionally lit, beautifully cast other world? Of course the question is rhetorical, but we seem set, as a species, on a crash course with reality. What will the future hold in store for us? Something virtual. Of course, with the ascendancy of the cinematic thought structure there is an ever-increasing desire to transcend mere reality and jump into something a bit more exciting.
What will the future hold? Even now, the signs of pushing the bounds of reality are firmly entrenched. As Web 3.0 and HTML5 stand poised to deliver a faster, more seamless Internet, companies like Yoostar and the like are propagating new ways for us to escape. To be sure, with the proper equipment it will be more and more possible to escape the bounds of this humble reality, indeed, this planet. But I digress.
The future of home entertainment, not to put too fine a point on it, will be the promise of escaping the confines of your home. Presently, interactive game consoles and streaming videos are the baby steps towards total, virtual bliss. The promise of not only gaming a console, but participating in an actual (forgive the pun) film will be too tempting to deny. The future, it seems, will be the unreal.

The 1967 Corvette was the last of a five year run for the C2 generation. Originally, the 1967 was supposed to be a total redesign but top engineers at GM wanted more wind tunnel time and thus the 1967 Corvette became another carry over Sting Ray. While the now famed C3 generation would have to wait one more year before it began, the 1967 Corvette did not disappoint and would prove to be the best of the Sting Ray family and would eventually have many claiming it to be the best Vette ever made.
The 1967 Corvette was the most finely tuned Sting Ray to be produced and although the changes were not all that spectacular they did make for a much cleaner looking Corvette. Some of the more notable changes to the 1967 Corvette were…
Front Fender Vents: Five front fender vents replaced the three that were on the 1966 Corvette.
Back-up Light, The 1967 Corvette had a newly designed single back-up light which was mounted just above the license plate holder.
Wheel Covers, The 1967 Corvette did away with the older looking wheel coverings and made way for the Rally wheels which featured chrome beauty rings with small chrome center caps to hide the lug nuts.
Handbrake, The handbrake was moved from beneath the dash to between the seats for the 1967 Corvette.
The engine for the 1967 Corvette ended up producing more power, even though, there was little changes made. In the 1967 Corvette the two small block V-8s as too the big block returned. Only this year the big block was hidden under a redesigned hood scoop. The two largest engines were able to put out 400 and 435 bhp because of the switch to triple two barrel carbs.
The optional L88 engine which featured many lightened parts and other special upgrades that gave the engine an incredible 560 bhp which would thrill speed freaks. The super engine had one problem which was the fact it took only 103 octane racing fuel and consequently did not make for a good option to be driven on a daily basis… There were 20 buyers in 1967 that took the package that would add a huge $1,500 to the base price of just over $4,200.
As the years would pass and enthusiasts and critics began to look back, more and more people would begin to label the 1967 Corvette as the best Corvette ever made. Though in the year 1967, this would not be the case as everyone was waiting for the now overdue C3 generation to be released. The result was the 1967 Corvette underselling the 1966 Corvette by 5,000 units. The newest Corvette was just a matter of time and when it was released many would be shocked to see that the Sting Ray name was taken away. Though added back in 1969 as ‘Stingray’ there would never again be another Sting Ray, especially not like the one that GM put out in 1967.
